Two months have elapsed since Sebastian Rogers, a young teen from Hendersonville, Tennessee, mysteriously disappeared from his home, inexplicably leaving his footwear behind.
During this unsettling period of no significant leads and familial tension, the 15-year-old's father, Seth Rogers, disclosed to Fox News Digital his decision to employ a private detective to aid in the search. Additionally, he is urging the FBI to engage in locating his son.
Seth Rogers shared that he is being left out of the loop by the Sumner County officials, noting his absence from a press briefing held last month about his son's case.
Seth has also encountered difficulties in gaining information from the authorities, exacerbated by a recent encounter with a fraudster who attempted to extort him for money by offering details about Sebastian.
The Sumner County Sheriff's Office activated an Amber Alert for Sebastian on February 26 following his last sighting in the vicinity of Stafford Court. Katie Proudfoot, Sebastian's mother, recounted to Fox News that she heard sounds from his room on the evening of February 25 and cautioned him to lower the noise. By the following morning, Sebastian was nowhere to be found.
Post-disappearance threats prompted Katie and Chris Proudfoot, Sebastian’s stepfather, to temporarily leave town. This sparked online speculation about their possible involvement in the case. However, a spokesperson from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Susan Niland, clarified in an April 2 press briefing that both parents have cooperated fully with the ongoing investigation.
Although initially doubtful about Chris and Katie's decision to leave, Seth chose to align with them after they all attended a vigil for Sebastian. By Monday, the family had reconciled to combine efforts with the PI in the hopes of resolving Sebastian’s case, despite the rampant rumors and misinformation, as Seth informed Fox News Digital.
Seth Rogers expressed his anguish and uncertainty about the situation."I don't know what is true. … All I know is that Sebastian could be anywhere,"
On a touching note, Seth, who shared custody of Sebastian, becoming emotional as he remembered their final phone conversation the day prior to Sebastian’s disappearance, which occurred on a seemingly unremarkable Thursday around 3:30 PM after Sebastian returned from school. It was a typical exchange where Seth inquired about his day and homework and shared an affectionate 'I love you' with his son - not knowing it would be their last conversation.
Sebastian, who has autism, had a penchant for video games and Legos. He was a good student, eagerly anticipating an award from the Future Farmers of America, as noted by Seth.
Investigators are soliciting the public’s vigilance for any out-of-the-ordinary sightings and encourage contacting the Sumner County Emergency Communications Center at 615-451-3838 or the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND with any salient information that may assist in Sebastian’s search.
As of Tuesday, authorities have accumulated a total of 314 tips in the ongoing effort to locate Sebastian.
