I am curious: Do private investigators in the US carry firearms while conducting private investigations? Is this a requirement of being a licensed PI?

That'd be largely regulated by individual state. In Pennsylvania, you'd have to have Act 235 to carry while conducting an investigation.

Technically, a LTC permit would suffice, but you'd be walking a fine line without your 235 certification and credential which could result in criminal charges against you.

Yes, I carry more today than I ever had. Times are more dangerous than they use to be, due to various conditions especially due to our borders being open and crime rates going through the roof everywhere.

What seems to be the humor in my comment. Many investigators carry more today than ever before. Stats show more and more investigators and security personnel are carrying today than 10 years ago.
